Morley's Final Catalogue: Abundant wherever bracken grows, especially in woods. Always in profusion at Bentley in June; also noted at Playford, Needham, Stowmarket, Monks park wood; Tuddenham, Brandon; Aldeburgh, Wangford, Beccles, Herringfleet, Fritton.

Recent Suffolk Status: Very common in the Sandlings and Breck with scattered records elsewhere.

Life history: Single-brooded. Emerging earlier in recent times. Easily disturbed from areas of Bracken in the daytime.

Identification: Unmistakeable.

Habitat: Heathland, woodland rides and glades with Bracken.
