Recent Suffolk Status: Local.
Life history: Single-brooded. Can be seen flying over the foodplant at dusk as well as sparingly at light. Larvae have been found by searching inside seedheads and flowers of the foodplant.
Identification: Virtually unmistakeable, but see Pinion-spotted pug. Habitat: Woodland glades and rides, gardens, grassland, hedgerows, coastal areas. Recorded in 29 (50%) of 58 10k Squares. First Recorded in 1922. Last Recorded in 2023. |
