Morley's Final Catalogue: Extremely rare, perhaps extinct. Juniper now grows at only Dalham and Ixworth Park; and among the former this Geometer certainly was taken, before 1890 by Skepper of Bury. Two specimens, apparently belonging here, were captured near Ipswich in 1895 and 1899, perhaps bred from junipers in gardens (Morley).

Recent Suffolk Status: Very local and scattered records of moths from gardens probably originating from ornamental Junipers as well as very occasional coastal records which could be migrants.

Life history: Single-brooded.

Identification: Spruce carpet is a larger moth with only a short dash in the forewing tip. Cypress carpet has a series of black dashes rather than a line at the forewing tip.

Habitat: Mainly gardens.
