Recent Suffolk Status: Very common.

Life history: Single-brooded. Easily disturbed from vegetation by day, seen at dusk as well as at light.

Identification: Garden carpet is smaller and normally a dirty white colour with blackish patches rather than a band, although extreme examples can have a full cross band but this doesn't normally have any brown colouration.

Habitat: A wide variety of habitats including gardens.
