Recent Status: A common species across Suffolk.
Life Style: A single brooded species that flies at night during summer and comes to light. The larvae feed on the leaves of deciduous oak, spinning leaves together. A number of other foodplants have been given. The larvae overwinter and pupate in late spring.
Identification: Phycita roborella is a robust very variably marked species. For the male the base of the antennal flagellum is strongly sinuate and heavily scaled and this character can greatly assist in identifying poorly marked individuals. The palps are short curved and not prominent. Some individuals are extensively shaded a dark red or orange.
