Status
Morley’s Final Catalogue: Local, and never seen at Monks Soham through thirty years till 1935. Common about Ipswich (Mly), at Felixstow (Pyett), a few at Waldringfield in 1929 (Wir), Blaxhall, Dunwich, Yoxford, Bungay, Flixton, Gorleston, Beccles; at Brandon and Thetford.

Recent Status: A common species in Suffolk. Recorded across the county.

Life Style: A single brooded summer flying species coming to light with a flight abundance peak at the end of July. The larvae feed on grasses and possibly also on mosses from silken galleries.

Identification: Among the British moths this is an easily recognised species with two broad bold white blotches on the forewing. There are a number of potential immigrant species that are superficially similar so it is important to note that the white marks are broad and there is no white line or patch beyond them towards the termen.
