Morley’s Final Catalogue: Surely neglected only; usually in profusion. No records since before 1890, when it was found at Leiston (Hon. Beatrice de Grey), till June 1935 when it abounded on sallows in Fritton marshes (Morley).

Recent Status: A local Suffolk species.

Life Style: A single brooded species flying from April to July and coming to light. The larvae feed on the leaves of Salix caprea, S. cinerea and S. aurita. They feed between two flatly spun leaves and may also use a vacated gall as a retreat. They hibernate in a cocoon on the ground where they also pupate.

Identification: An easily identified species with white wings having black spots and strigulae and an orange brown colouring apically. It has a characteristic plumbeous suffusion pre and within the ocellar area. The wing also shows darker markings in this area. https://www.norfolkmoths.co.uk/micros.php?bf=11320
