Morley's Final Catalogue: Not recorded from the County in Morley's time.

Recent Suffolk status: Migrant and possible temporary resident.

The first County record was on 21.09.2006 at Bawdsey (M. J.Deans). A regular immigrant from 2012 onwards, in increasing numbers. In 2020, there was a large influx into the County with 44 records, including 2 from VC26 and other sightings away from the coast. Regular records at some sites in recent years are possibly suggesting this species is attempting to colonize the UK, however no larvae have been found yet despite searches.

Life history: Double-brooded on the continent.

Identification: Small Marbled is a smaller moth with an outer cross-line bent outwards, Purple Marbled is smaller with streaking and a clear basal streak.

Habitat Grassland, waste ground.

Retained Specimen / Photograph will be Required.

Recorded in 17 (29%) of 58 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 2006.
Last Recorded in 2023.
