Morley's Final Catalogue: Not listed. Thought to be a northern species only in Morley's time.

Recent Suffolk Status: Very rare immigrant, only 2 county records, in the 1960s at Walberswick (H. E. Chipperfield) and Thorpeness on 23.07.1999 (A. w. Prichard et al.).

Life history: Single-brooded.

Identification: Scarce burnished brass has the brassy patch in the corner of the forewing, unlike Gold spange which has the metallic patch in the centre of the wing. Dewick's plusia is much smaller with the silver mark much smaller and not triangular.

Habitat: Both records have been at coastal sites. A moorland species in its native range in the UK.
