Morley's Final Catalogue: One at light in Hemley Rectory on 21 July 1904 (Wlr. EMM. xl, 236). Elsewhere Kent and I. Wight only, in Britain: probably extinct even there.

Recent Suffolk status: Rare immigrant. Five at Thorpeness in mid-July 1964 (Chalmers-Hunt & Wakely) were the first in the county since 1904.

Twenty-first century records have come from Dunwich Heath, Orfordness, Bawdsey and Landguard; with a single inland record from Mendlesham (S. Woolnough).

Life history: Single-brooded on the continent in the summer. Suffolk records are normally June/July.
