Morley's Final Catalogue: Referring also to Rustic shoulder-knot: Both frequent everywhere at dusk, sugar and light in summer.

Recent Suffolk Status: Common. Can be slightly less common on sandier soils in the east of the county.

Life history: Single-brooded. Late records have been noted in the autumn in the county perhaps hinting at a second generation.

Identification: Can be variable in colour, with light and darker brown forms occurring in Suffolk. Rustic shoulder-knot has an obvious black branched basal forewing streak. Dusky brocade is a greyer moth.

Habitat: A wide variety of grassy habitats including gardens.
