Morley's Final Catalogue: (Referring also to Clouded-bordered brindle): These two species, if distinct, are remarkably similar in the extent of their frequency and distribution. Both are found, no more than occasionally and never gregariously, everywhere; on Waldringfield sugar; distinctly uncommonly around both Ipswich and Beccles; neither is noted from Lothingland, now so well-worked.

Recent Suffolk Status: Locally common.

Life history: Single-brooded.

Identification: Clouded-bordered brindle lacks the pale line in the dark outer edge of the forewing and the oval and kidney mark are not outlined in dark colouration.

Habitat: Woodland, scrub, gardens.

Recorded in 38 (66%) of 58 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1957.
Last Recorded in 2023.
