Morley's Final Catalogue: 'Somewhat rare' at Bentley, five on oaks near Kesgrave Hall (Gr), Needham, Glemham Magna and Beccles, ante 1890. Later a good deal rarer, and apparently confined to Bentley Woods (Hkg, Pyett), where this is the sole moth ever beaten from the exotic Spanish chestnut (Mly).

Recent Suffolk Status: Local.

Life history: Single-brooded. Larvae have been found in the county feeding on grasses along a woodland ride after dark.

Identification: Unmistakeable.

Habitat: Woodland and wooded heathland.

Recorded in 47 (81%) of 58 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1970.
Last Recorded in 2023.
