Morley's Final Catalogue: Suffolk, teste W.C. Hewitson Esq. (Stephens, Illus. ii, 1829, p.198). Woolly Bears are adundant in all gardens, to a less extent on our central clay.

Recent Suffolk status: Much declined in recent years. 'Woolly Bears' are found far less frequently. The core populations now seem centred along the coastal belt, river valleys and fens in the west.

Life history: Single-brooded in the summer.

Identification: Unmistakable.

Habitat: Gardens, woodland and marshes.

Recorded in 49 (84%) of 58 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1930.
Last Recorded in 2023.
