Morley's Final Catalogue: Extremely local, but always abundant in a few of our larger woods during June. Constant in Bentley Woods during 1892-1937. Recorded also before 1890 from Freston, Needham and Stowmarket, where it may still occur.

Recent Suffolk Status: Very local, only in the Brecks and woods south of Ipswich.

Life history: Single-brooded. Adults fly by day in warm sunshine.

Identification: Unmistakeable.

Habitat: Woodland rides, scrubby areas on heathland.

Recorded in 11 (19%) of 58 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1892.
Last Recorded in 2023.
