Morley's Final Catalogue: Referring also to Square-spot rustic: Suffolk (Stephens, Illust. ii, 1829, p.136). Par excellence the two most prevalent of all autumn Noctuid moths.

Recent Suffolk Status: Abundant across the county, sometimes appearing in large numbers in traps.

Life history: Double-brooded. Recorded right into November in Suffolk.

Identification: Setaceous Hebrew character has the obvious pale spot, lacking in Triple-spotted clay and Double square-spot.

Habitat: A wide variety of habitats including gardens.

Recorded in 57 (98%) of 58 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1930.
Last Recorded in 2023.
